Basketball Game Preview: Lanham Christian Lions vs. Avalon Black Knights

The Lanham Christian Lions will head out to face off against the Avalon Black Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lanham Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully Avalon likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Lanham Christian made easy work of Southern Maryland Christian Academy and carried off a 71-49 win. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 21 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Avalon entered their tilt with Calverton on Thursday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Calverton 82-46. Given the Black Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while Calverton are ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lanham Christian pushed their record up to 17-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Avalon, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Lanham Christian strolled past Avalon in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 81-67. Will Lanham Christian repeat their success, or does Avalon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
