Recap: Colonial Christian Patriots vs. Cushman Cougars

The Colonial Christian Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 72-42 loss at the hands of Cushman. Colonial Christian lost against Cushman in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-47 score last time.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Christian Valino, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Valino scored a full 38.1% of Colonial Christian's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ari Espinosa was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.

Colonial Christian's loss was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9. As for Cushman, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colonial Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Grace Baptist Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 11, 2024. As for Cushman, they will head out on the road to face off against Keys Gate at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Keys Gate focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Monday.
