Softball Recap: IC Catholic Prep Beats Timothy Christian for Their Fourth Straight Victory

IC Catholic Prep extended their postseason success on Friday against Timothy Christian. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.

Madelynn Dinino was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, IC Catholic Prep let Sofia Bucaro and Lexi Russ run wild. Bucaro went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Russ went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles Russ has posted since May 3rd. Another player making a difference was Isabella Jelic, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

IC Catholic Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. They are a perfect 13-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory was the fourth in a row for IC Catholic Prep, bringing their record up to 21-13. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Timothy Christian, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: IC Catholic Prep beat the Trojans by a score of 10-0 later that day.
