Basketball Recap: Community Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Community Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Veritas Christian Academy Warriors and fell 52-6. While losing is never fun, Community Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 614th, while Veritas Christian Academy is ranked 161st).

Veritas Christian Academy had a senior duo take command as Brooke Miller went 10 for 16 on her way to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals and Kaitlyn Miller posted six points in addition to eight boards, eight steals, and seven assists. Kaitlyn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 32 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aunica Tomlinson, who scored six points and six rebounds.

Community Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Veritas Christian Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Community Christian Academy will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Challenger at 5:00 p.m. on January 27th. As for Veritas Christian Academy, they and The Master's Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (The Master's Academy has won three straight at home, while Veritas Christian Academy won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
