Elk Grove was the 26-20 winner over Monterey Trail when they last played one another back in September, but their luck changed this time around. The Thundering Herd fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 14-12 on Tuesday. The Thundering Herd's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Although Elk Grove took the loss, they still got scores from Mackenzie McEntee and Kyleann Baird.

Even if they lost, Elk Grove's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Baird.

Elk Grove's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Monterey Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Elk Grove has already played their next game, a 19-6 win against Franklin on the 23rd. As for Monterey Trail, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-20 defeat against Sheldon on the 23rd.
