Football Recap: Banning Lewis Academy Comes Up Short on the Road Against University + How To Watch

Banning Lewis Academy kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They received a blow as they fell 28-13 to the University Bulldogs. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Banning Lewis Academy lost, don't look at Sam Early. Despite the final result, he rushed for 88 yards on only 11 carries, and also threw for 119 yards and one TD. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jordan Jones, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed seven in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Jones, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

University got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ethan Baker out in front who picked up 54 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Max Davis, who threw for 177 yards and four touchdowns while completing 73.1% of his passes.

Looking ahead, Banning Lewis Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Alamosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for University, they will head out on the road to square off against Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
