Volleyball Recap: Mauldin Falls Short Against Ranked Riverside + How To Watch

Mauldin faced Riverside in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mavericks came up short against the Warriors, falling 3-0. The Mavericks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Mauldin was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by exactly two points. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Riverside found their leader in sophomore Tanner Tumblin, who had 25 kills, six aces, three digs, and one block. Tumblin is on a roll when it comes to kills, as he's now had nine or more in each of the last four games he's played. Ignacio Miguez was another key player, getting 36 assists.

Mauldin's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Riverside, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Mauldin has already played their next contest (against Eastside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Riverside, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-1 win against James F. Byrnes on the 6th.
