Softball Game Preview: Oroville Tigers vs. Marysville Indians

The Oroville Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Marysville Indians at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Oroville will be strutting in after a victory while Marysville will be coming in after a defeat.

Oroville took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over CORE Butte. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Lyndsey Cook (Kaylor) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jenessa Igot, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one triple, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dakota Hoepner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Marysville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 8-2 to Oakmont.

Oroville's win bumped their record up to 3-9. As for Marysville, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Oroville might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Marysville when the teams last played back in May of 2021. Can Oroville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
