It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but ITW David Speer Academy had no problem doing just that on Sunday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Noble Street College Prep Golden Tigers. The Pride might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Santiago Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Lopez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of ITW David Speer Academy's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Alexander Roman and Keryel Figueroa did most of the damage at the plate: Roman went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Figueroa got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three hits gave Roman a new career-high. Jose Zuno was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

ITW David Speer Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-9. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Noble Street College Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

ITW David Speer Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Noble Street College Prep, they will venture away from home to face off against Kelly at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season.
