Softball Recap: Fremont Comes Up Short

Fremont made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Palo Alto, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Firebirds fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-5 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Firebirds have suffered since April 29, 2024.

Fremont saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jiyah Caban, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Caban is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Molly Bobick was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Fremont has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Palo Alto, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fremont will take on Cupertino at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Palo Alto, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Monta Vista at 4:00 p.m. The Vikings are facing the Matadors at the right time seeing as the Matadors are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
