Baseball Recap: Yorktown Wildcats vs. Port Aransas Marlins
Yorktown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 15-3 walloping at the hands of the Port Aransas Marlins. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Yorktown of the 26-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
Yorktown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Rodriguez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases.
Yorktown's defeat dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Port Aransas, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-5-1.
Yorktown will head out on the road to challenge Refugio at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Yorktown is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Port Aransas, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Three Rivers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
