Softball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Dakota

Dakota extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 12-6. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Romeo Bulldogs, sneaking past 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Cougars: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in April, they had to take a 7-4 loss.

Not much got past Brooke Cahill, who gave up just five hits to keep Romeo off the board. Cahill has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nadeline Tcruz was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Maddie Kruk was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Romeo, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-4. The game marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Romeo's side, Katie Murphy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk).

On the hitting side, Romeo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Phoebe Maximiuk, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dakota will welcome Anchor Bay at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Romeo, they will take on Almont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.36 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
