Volleyball Recap: Johnstown-Monroe Starts off Right with Win over Mt. Vernon

Johnstown-Monroe gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Johnnies were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Yellowjackets, so the Johnnies were just returning the favor.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-6, 25-18.

Johnstown-Monroe had a senior duo take command as Luciana Smith had 26 digs and five aces and Ava Ruffle had 15 digs and three aces. Ruffle has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Mt. Vernon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Callie Swanson, who had 12 assists and nine digs.

Johnstown-Monroe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against Heath on the 21st. As for Mt. Vernon, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Licking Valley on the 21st.
