Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Terri Richardson and Anastasia Fields Lead Southern Nash to Victory

Southern Nash entered their tilt with Bunn on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bunn Wildcats 41-39. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 44-41 back in January.

Leading Southern Nash to victory were Anastasia Fields and Terri Richardson. Fields almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds, while Richardson posted 13 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Fields a new career-high in points.

Southern Nash smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Bunn saw an underclassman step up: freshman Makayla Richardson put up 21 points along with six boards and four steals. That was a full 53.8% of Bunn's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Ny'Lah Mitchell was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds.

Southern Nash now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Bunn, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-11.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Rocky Mount the next time they take the court. Bunn will head out to face Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Southern Nash will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
