Recap: Rivercrest Colts vs. Piggott Mohawks
The Rivercrest Colts won the last time they faced the Piggott Mohawks, and things went their way on Monday too. Rivercrest walked away with a 49-39 victory over the Mohawks. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rivercrest.
Rivercrest was led to victory by Zakiyah Brownlee and Destiny Burks. Brownlee scored nine points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds, while Burks scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burks has scored at least a third of Rivercrest's points. Ella Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Rivercrest is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Piggott, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivercrest will take on the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Piggott, they will head out on the road to challenge the Seminoles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Osceola is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
