Westminster Academy hit Cooper City with a four-run second inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cowboys fell 11-6 to the Lions.
Rylee Hedden was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jenavive Quinones, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale got the win against Chaminade-Madonna on Wednesday by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Flying L's, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kylie Keenan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tannar Keenan, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jazette Dollar was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Fort Lauderdale has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Cooper City, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
Cooper City beat Fort Lauderdale 8-5 in their previous matchup on April 1st. Will the Cowboys repeat their success, or do the Flying L's have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
