Jake Davidson named 2024 MaxPreps Washington High School Football Player of the Year

Camas quarterback led state with 3,711 yards passing and 53 touchdowns, leading Papermakers to Class 4A title game.

Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2024 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.

Jake Davidson of Camas is the 2024 MaxPreps Washington High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound senior quarterback led the Papermakers to a 13-1 record and Class 4A state championship game appearance.

Davidson led the state with 3,711 passing yards and 53 touchdowns. He was also dangerous with his feet rushing for 399 yards and five more scores.

In a 27-24 loss against Sumner in the state championship game, Davidson completed 22 of 31 passes for 271 yards and three touchdowns. The Spartans kicked a field goal as time expired to win their first state title since 1977.

Davidson threw for 260 yards and four touchdowns in the semifinals, helping Camas overcome a 20-7 fourth-quarter deficit to beat Gonzaga Prep (Spokane) 28-20.

In four postseason games, Davidson threw for 1,010 yards and 13 touchdowns. He added 158 yards on the ground and two more scores.



Davidson's season-high came in a 38-21 win over Coeur d'Alene (Idaho) when he completed 27 of 44 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 12 carries for 61 yards.

Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team.
