Football Recap: Redwood Extends Winning Streak to Four + How To Watch

Redwood extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 5-2. They were the clear victors by a 35-13 margin over the Monache Marauders. The Rangers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Jimmie Burk continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 165 yards and three scores while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Another big playmaker for Redwood was Jairus Brooks, who returned a punt for a touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Redwood proved: they limited Monache to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Enrique Segura for the heroic effort on defense: he. Redwood is a perfect 4-0 when they shut down the run game so well.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Brooks, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

As for Monache, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-2. They were red-hot offensively heading into the game (they scored no less than 31 points in the five matchups prior), but Redwood's defense proved too tough.

Monache lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Devin Rodriguez, who threw for 235 yards and a pair of TDs on only 15 passes. Monache's leading receiver Jasiah Rodriguez was Devin's top target yet again, picking up 88 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Redwood will venture away from home to challenge Golden West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rangers will need to watch out since the Trailblazers have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. As for Monache, they will head out to take on Mt. Whitney at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
