Basketball Preview: Martinsville Bluestreaks vs. Chrisman Cardinals
The Martinsville Bluestreaks's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Chrisman Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Martinsville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Thursday, Martinsville was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 45-41 to the. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Martinsville in their matchups with the : they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Chrisman's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They fell just short of Arthur-Okaw Christian by a score of 45-42. While losing is never fun, Chrisman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 610th, while the Conquering Riders are ranked 260th).
Martinsville dropped their record down to 2-18 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Chrisman, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season.
Martinsville might still be hurting after the 33-13 defeat they got from the Cardinals in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Martinsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
