Basketball Recap: Mead Comes Up Short

Mead and Lewis-Palmer squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Mead had to settle for second. The match between the Mead Mavericks and the Lewis-Palmer Rangers didn't end well, with the Mead Mavericks falling 65-48. The game marked the Mavericks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Mead lost, don't look at Matthew Angelo. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-21 on his way to 24 points and six rebounds. Angelo is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kyler Crump, who posted 11 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lewis-Palmer to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jacob Lowe, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. Lowe has become a key player for Lewis-Palmer: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 8-11 otherwise. Jonas Miller was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven assists.

Mead's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Lewis-Palmer, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Mead does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lewis-Palmer, they have already played their next match, a 52-45 defeat against Standley Lake on the 4th.
