Softball Recap: Hillsboro Takes a Loss

After flying high against Groesbeck last Tuesday, Hillsboro came back down to earth. The Hillsboro Eagles came up short against the Maypearl Panthers on Thursday, falling 12-4.

Cloe Creech and Brynlie Vantreese did some serious damage despite the final result: Creech went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Vantreese scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Even though they lost, Hillsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in seven consecutive games.

Hillsboro's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Maypearl, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3-1.

Hillsboro wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-4 victory against ILTexas Arlington on the 27th. As for Maypearl, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-0 loss against Venus on the 27th.
