Softball Recap: St. John Paul II Takes a Loss

The St. John Paul II Panthers didn't have quite enough to beat the Lincoln Trojans on Tuesday and fell 10-9. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by just one run.

AMANDA THOMPSON was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. THOMPSON was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, D'NAE MOSSE and SHAVON STEWART did some serious damage despite the final result: MOSSE scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while STEWART scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. JALIYA CONYERS was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, St. John Paul II was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

St. John Paul II now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Lincoln, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John Paul II will face off against Wewahitchka at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wewahitchka has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something St. John Paul II will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln, they will be playing at home against North Florida Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Florida Christian's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Lincoln's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
