Baseball Recap: Arroyo Wins Going Away Against Castro Valley

Arroyo won against Hayward last Wednesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Dons never let the Castro Valley Trojans get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. The matchup marked the Dons' most dominant victory of the season.

Not much got past Nate Hollinger, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Castro Valley off the board. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Hollinger.

At the plate, Arroyo's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Marco Carbajal, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double was Carbajal's first of the season. Another was Justin Nelson, who got no hits from his three at bats.

The victory made it two in a row for Arroyo and bumps their season record up to 5-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Castro Valley, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-4 record.

Coming up, Arroyo will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hayward at 4:00 p.m. As for Castro Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Saint Mary's at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
