Softball Recap: Fairview Warriors vs. Brookside Cardinals
Fairview was the 16-3 winner over Brookside when they last played one another back in April of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Fairview Warriors lost 17-2 to the Brookside Cardinals on Tuesday. Fairview has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Brookside's part, Markie-Ann Aliff made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. Aliff has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings every time she's pitched this season. Aliff was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.
In other batting news, Jazelle Fraize was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Miya Menko, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Fairview now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Brookside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
