Baseball Game Preview: Bayside Marlins vs. First Colonial Patriots

Bayside hasn't had much luck against First Colonial recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Marlins will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Bayside's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They skirted past Indian River 1-0.

Barry Farias Jr looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bayside's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tayden Jackson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Jackson snagged this season.

Bayside hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indian River struck out 13 times.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for First Colonial's offense. They fell just short of Princess Anne by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Patriots were not able to get on the board.

First Colonial's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bayside, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Bayside might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from First Colonial when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Marlins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
