Softball Preview: Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots vs. Cathedral Catholic Dons        
        
		
            
 The Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots will head out on the road to  face off against  the Cathedral Catholic Dons at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Both teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Academy of Our Lady of Peace: 3.6, Cathedral Catholic: 2.2) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
 Academy of Our Lady of Peace is probably headed into the  match with a chip on their shoulder considering Otay Ranch just ended the team's  three-game winning streak  on Monday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of  5-4.
  Alexandra Riggs was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  didn't allow a single  earned run and  only one  hit over four innings pitched. Riggs has been consistent recently: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Riggs was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in two of her four plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Alayna Ma'Ake made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and three  RBI. She hasn't dropped below three  RBI for three straight games.
 Meanwhile, while Cathedral Catholic put up some  runs on Friday, the same  can't be said for Clairemont. Cathedral Catholic walked away with  a   3-0  win over Clairemont. The  victory made it back-to-back  wins for Cathedral Catholic.
 The result came thanks to  Mimi Botticelli's shutout, as she gave up just four  hits and racked up eight Ks.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Alyssa Pagdilao, who  went 3-for-3 with two  RBI.  Kayla Walton was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-2.
 Academy of Our Lady of Peace's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-1. As for Cathedral Catholic, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record  this season.
 The batters for both teams will have to hit smart  on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Academy of Our Lady of Peace has been retiring batters left and right this season,  having  averaged 7.1  strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cathedral Catholic struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 7.8. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
 Academy of Our Lady of Peace took their  victory against Cathedral Catholic  in their previous matchup  on April 12th by a conclusive  9-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Academy of Our Lady of Peace since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
