Softball Preview: Shady Spring Tigers vs. Independence Patriots
Shady Spring has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Independence Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Shady Spring can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They blew past Oak Hill 9-1.
Avary Bragg and Raegan Lane were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Bragg pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Lane struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). At the plate, Bragg went 4-for-4 with five RBI and a double, while Lane scored a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Waddell, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
