Baseball Recap: Oxford Prep Beats Wake Prep Academy for Their 13th Straight Win

Oxford Prep extended their winning streak to 13 on Friday, bumping their season record up to 16-2 in the process. They never let the Wake Prep Academy Guardians get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Griffins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

Davis Faulkner and Drew West did most of the damage at the plate: Faulkner went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs, while West went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits West has posted since back in March. Gage Hobgood was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Oxford Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wake Prep Academy only posted an OBP of .278.

As for Wake Prep Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10. The matchup marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Wake Prep Academy's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Watkins, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Easton Booser also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Looking ahead, Oxford Prep will look to defend their home field on Monday against Roxboro Community at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Wake Prep Academy, they are taking a road trip to square off against Franklin Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
