Softball Recap: Holbrook Has No Trouble Against Chinle

Holbrook won the last time they faced Chinle and things went their way on Wednesday too. Holbrook was the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over Chinle. The Roadrunners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by ten runs or more this season.

Tamryn Baldonado made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amber Begay, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Cayla Monroe was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Holbrook and bumps their season record up to 3-4. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 10.5 strikeouts in those games compared to only 3.6 in the others. As for Chinle, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Holbrook wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-1 win against Fort Thomas on the 20th. As for Chinle, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-1 defeat against Show Low on the 20th.
