Basketball Preview: Cotter Ramblers vs. Aquinas Blugolds
The Cotter Ramblers will head out on the road to square off against the Aquinas Blugolds at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cotter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,358 points over their last 20 contests.
Cotter pushed their score all the way to 56 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 71-56 bruising from Goodhue.
Meanwhile, Aquinas put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 81-53 win over Holmen on the road. Winning may never get old, but Aquinas sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Samantha Davis was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 18 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madeline Murphy, who scored 15 points.
Cotter's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Aquinas, they pushed their record up to 17-3 with that victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Cotter came up short against the Blugolds when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 57-48. Thankfully for Cotter, Macy Donarski (who scored 26 points along with six assists and three steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
