The Daleville Broncos will face off against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Madison-Grant will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Daleville extended their winning streak to four on Saturday. The Broncos blew past Elwood 8-2.
Daleville got a great performance from Tripp Pitts as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Caleb Aikin was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ayden Ramirez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Daleville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elwood only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Madison-Grant). They were the clear victors by a 19-4 margin over Delphi Community on Saturday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Xavier Yeagy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Yeagy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Madison-Grant got a massive performance out of Brayson Martin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Martin also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Chad Lamb, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Madison-Grant's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Daleville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Daleville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .386. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
