Baseball Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. Wise Pumas

The Laurel Spartans will face off against the Wise Pumas at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses dating back to last season for Laurel and four for Wise dating back to last season.

Laurel managed to slip by High Point the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Laurel came up short against High Point on Monday, falling 15-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered against the Eagles since April 10, 2018.

Meanwhile, while it was Wise who put the first points on the board on Saturday, it was Eleanor Roosevelt who put up more. Wise lost 11-1 to Eleanor Roosevelt.

Wise saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kameron Cofer, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Laurel's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Wise, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 0-3.

Laurel took their win against Wise when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-4. Will Laurel repeat their success, or does Wise has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
