Baseball Game Preview: Pacelli Cardinals vs. Bonduel Bears

The Pacelli Cardinals will venture away from home to challenge the Bonduel Bears at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pacelli will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Pacelli proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past Pittsville 1-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cardinals have posted since April 10th.

Pacelli got a great performance from Keltin Opper as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Opper has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Bonduel and Amherst have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Bears fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4.

Pacelli pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bonduel, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Pacelli couldn't quite get it done against Bonduel when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-3. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
