Basketball Recap: Palmetto Comes Up Short

Palmetto has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 96-84 to the Temecula Valley Golden Bears on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (66), the Panthers still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Palmetto lost, don't look at Santiago Henriquez. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 20 on his way to 33 points in addition to seven assists and six steals. Henriquez's afternoon made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samfree Sarante, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Palmetto's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Temecula Valley, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Palmetto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 82-62 win against Foster on the 21st. As for Temecula Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 85-80 victory against Oakland on the 21st.
