Basketball Recap: Isac Amell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Port Allegany over Otto-Eldred

Port Allegany was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-40 heartbreaker at the hands of the Otto-Eldred Terrors. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while the Terrors are ranked 135th).

Port Allegany's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isac Amell, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Amell a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%). Another player making a difference was Jarrod Funk, who had 12 points and six boards.

Port Allegany's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Otto-Eldred, they pushed their record up to 20-0 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Port Allegany didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-44 win against Galeton on the 7th. As for Otto-Eldred, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-30 victory against Clarion-Limestone on the 8th.
