Baseball Recap: Seneca Triumphs

Seneca had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Holy Cross on Monday. The Golden Eagles' pitchers stepped up to hand the Lancers a 10-0 shutout. The Golden Eagles not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 11-0).

Seneca got a great performance from Dom Kleinknecht as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Kleinknecht a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Trzaskawka, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vaughn Worthing, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Seneca was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Seneca's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Holy Cross, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seneca will host Pennsauken at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holy Cross, they will challenge Glassboro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
