Preview: Delhi Bears vs. Delta Charter Storm
Delhi has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Delta Charter Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Delhi narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Tensas 59-57. Given Delhi's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Tensas is ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jimmy Spruill was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Carter Dural, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Delta Charter, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-57 loss to Tensas on Friday. Delta Charter has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Delhi is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Delta Charter, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Delhi against Delta Charter when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 70-33 victory. Does Delhi have another victory up their sleeve, or will Delta Charter turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
