Baseball Recap: Jordan Comes Up Short

Jordan extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 11-11. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy Warriors. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Warriors apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Julian Lopez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Matthew Alcala was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since March 4th.

On St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy's side, the team relied heavily on Aidan Do, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Looking ahead, Jordan will challenge Woodrow Wilson at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bruins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy, they will face off against St. Genevieve at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. The Valiants have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.67 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
