Baseball Game Preview: DeSoto County Bulldogs vs. Avon Park Red Devils

DeSoto County is 0-10 against Avon Park since February of 2018 but things could change on Thursday. The Bulldogs will look to defend their home field against the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Monday just wasn't the day for DeSoto County's offense. They lost 10-0 to IMG Academy Blue on Monday. Considering the last time the Bulldogs couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, Avon Park had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Wildcats.

Eric Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Avon Park saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jace King, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Avon Park pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for DeSoto County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
