Volleyball Recap: Heritage Find Success

Heritage won the last time they faced Douglas County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Eagles walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Huskies. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Heritage had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-23.

Heritage had a senior duo take command as Avery Samson had 14 digs and one assist and Maddy Davis had four digs and two aces. Davis also set a new season-high mark in assists with 18. Breck Deruiter also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Despite the loss, Douglas County still got an impressive performance from Addi Bradford, who had 12 digs and four aces. Bradford is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played.

Heritage's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for Douglas County, their loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 4-3.

Heritage has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against ThunderRidge on the 23rd. As for Douglas County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Regis Jesuit on the 23rd.
