Basketball Recap: South Garner Comes Up Short + How To Watch

South Garner extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They were dealt a 73-39 defeat at the hands of the Middle Creek Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Titans have suffered against the Mustangs since January 24, 2020.

As for Middle Creek, they moved to 4-3 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Middle Creek's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cole Cornelius, who posted 20 points. Those 20 points gave Cornelius a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of George Daniels, who had 17 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Coming up, South Garner and Willow Spring will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Titans will be up against the Storm's rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Middle Creek, they will square off against Franklinton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Rams have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
