Football Recap: Liberty Triumphs

Liberty proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 27) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Rancho Verde Mustangs 21-19. This was payback for the Bison, who suffered a 24-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Trent Hallis was his usual excellent self, rushing for 94 yards and one score.

When it comes to explaining why Rancho Verde lost, don't look at Jimmy Cruz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns.

Liberty is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. As for Rancho Verde, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Coming up, Liberty will be playing in front of their home fans against Paloma Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bison will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Rancho Verde, they will take on Orange Vista at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
