Football Recap: Pierce Starts Season with Win Against Amador + How To Watch

Pierce had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They pulled ahead with a 14-13 photo finish over the Amador Buffaloes. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pierce's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Jorge, who rushed for 61 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 111 yards on eight of 12 attempts. Those 61 rushing yards gave Jorge a new career-high. A healthy portion of Jorge's aerial production (92 yards to be exact) went to Nate Macintosh.

Amador's loss came despite strong showings from Brad Blankenheim and John McPartland. Blankenheim rushed for 91 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, while McPartland gained 72 total yards.

Amador's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pierce will host Clear Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Amador, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bear Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
