Laurel has gone 8-2 against South Side recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Rams at 4:30 p.m. The last five games Laurel has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Laurel and Mohawk Area, and Mohawk Area kept the tradition alive. The Spartans fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Warriors: they've now lost five in a row.

Kolton Carlson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. Luca Santini also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, South Side made easy work of Springdale on Wednesday and carried off a 15-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Rj Fisher was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fisher was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, South Side got a massive performance out of Cole MCCoy, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was RydeR Goe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
South Side always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
South Side pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Laurel, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Everything went Laurel's way against South Side in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Laurel made off with an 18-9 win. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
