Soccer Game Preview: Ashley Ridge vs. Waccamaw

The Ashley Ridge Swamp Foxes will head out to challenge the Waccamaw Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Ashley Ridge's victory against Fort Dorchester wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Ashley Ridge's defense stepped up to hand Fort Dorchester a 1-0 shutout on Friday. Ashley Ridge's winning goal came courtesy of Austin Fuller.

Meanwhile, Waccamaw had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Bulldogs 10-0. Waccamaw might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by three goals or more this season.

Waccamaw pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those five contests. As for Ashley Ridge, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

Ashley Ridge was able to grind out a solid victory over Waccamaw in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Ashley Ridge repeat their success, or does Waccamaw has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
