Soccer Recap: Wheeling Comes Up Short

If Wheeling was riding high fresh off their 4-0 takedown of Maine East on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats fell 3-1 to the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Wheeling of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2022.

Their goal came courtesy of Nicole Schreiner, who's now up to five this season.

Wheeling's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Zion-Benton, with the victory, they broke their 11-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeling will face off against Conant at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Zion-Benton, they will challenge Hoffman Estates at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Zion-Benton are facing Hoffman Estates at the right time seeing as Hoffman Estates are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
