Recap: Briggsdale Falcons vs. Prairie Mustangs
With a playoff game on the line, the Briggsdale Falcons rose to the challenge on Saturday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 52-39. The win was nothing new for Briggsdale as they're now sitting on six straight.
Jenna Krise was her usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Krise is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Brown, who scored 13 points along with four steals.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Shipman, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shipman has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hannah Kugler, who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and six steals.
Even though they lost, Prairie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Briggsdale only pulled down an offensive rebound.
Briggsdale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-2 record this season. As for Prairie, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.
Briggsdale is on the road again on Friday and plays Hanover at 5:30 p.m. on March 1st. Hanover will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 227th, while Briggsdale is ranked 30th). Prairie's road trip will continue as they head out to face Cheraw at 7:00 p.m. on March 1st. Hopefully Prairie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
