Softball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. Space Coast Vipers

The Merritt Island Christian Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Space Coast Vipers at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Merritt Island Christian has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Merritt Island Christian lost 19-9 to Cocoa Beach on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Keri Shea made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Parker Morrison, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Space Coast). They were the clear victors by a 21-4 margin over Heritage on Monday. The Vipers haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kyleigh Wise was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Kami Dacko was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Merritt Island Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Space Coast, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Merritt Island Christian might still be hurting after the 12-3 loss they got from Space Coast in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
