 Veterans Memorial is 1-6 against Canyon since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit  on Thursday. The Veterans Memorial Patriots will be playing at home against the Canyon Cougars at 7:00  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
 Veterans Memorial's hitters rose to the challenge against a Antlers pitching crew that boasted an average of only two points allowed on Tuesday. Veterans Memorial blew past Tivy 16-2. Winning may never get old, but Veterans Memorial sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.
  Shalei Morn made a splash no matter where she played. She  tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off   three  hits. Morn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Morn was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
 In other batting news,  Alaina Peper was a standout: she fired off two  home runs, three  runs,  and four  RBI while going 2-for-4.  Lara Ramos was another key contributor,  going 3-for-4 with a  home run, three  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Meanwhile, while Canyon put up plenty of  runs on Tuesday, the same  can't be said for Wagner. Everything went Canyon's way against Wagner as Canyon made off with  an  18-0 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest  win Canyon has managed all season.
 Veterans Memorial pushed their record up to 17-4 with that  victory, which was their seventh straight  on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.9 runs per game. As for Canyon, their win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 8-7.
 Veterans Memorial came out on top in a nail-biter against Canyon  when the teams last played  on March 5th, sneaking past  5-4. Will Veterans Memorial repeat their success,  or does  Canyon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
