Basketball Recap: Wausa Takes a Loss

After flying high against Randolph last Friday, Wausa came back down to earth. The Wausa Vikings had to suffer through a 76-24 loss at the hands of the Elkhorn Valley Falcons. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost eight in a row.

Wausa's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenley Anderson, who posted six points, and Reagan Gillilan, who earned seven points.

Even though they lost, Wausa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Elkhorn Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karlee Broberg led the charge by going 7 of 9 from beyond the arc on her way to 28 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj Black, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards.

Wausa's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Elkhorn Valley, the win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.

Wausa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-30 victory against Tri County Northeast on the 23rd. As for Elkhorn Valley, they will square off against Creighton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Elkhorn Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.9 points per game this season.
